Before the move

Tell your child about the move in advance. The more global move is planned, the earlier your child needs to know about it. Psychologists advise to explain to your kid what's the reason for the move and talk to him about upcoming changes. An unexpected change of residence without warning can result in a great stress for the little guy and erosion of trust to parents. Because on a subconscious level, the home your child is accustomed to symbolizes the stability and security of the world for him. 

Before you leave the old place, organize the last walk around, take memorable photos. Try to organize a holiday for your child and his friends to get the child have nice memories of the separation.

During the move

It is recommended not to involve the child in the move. It is better if he spends the day with his mother outside the apartment: you can go out or visit your friends. The process of packing and unpacking things can be delegated to the moving company. Moving company specialists know how to pack, transport and unpack all the things at the new place in one day.

If on a moving day a little child stays in the apartment, follow the simple recommendations:

1. Prepare a bag with necessities for the whole family. This first aid kit, toiletries, change of linen, clothing, and shoes, bedding and towels, water and food that can be quickly heated, as well as disposable tableware. Put into the bag things for the child: food, a book, a few favorite toys, a pillow and a blanket for the case he wants to sleep. (If necessary, don't forget the diapers and bottles).
2. The baby's crib should be disassembled the last at the old address and assembled in the first place at the new address. If you hire moving company specialists, make sure they know this rule.
3. When choosing professionals for the move, verify their qualifications. Their staff should have experience in the relocation of families with children. They have to wear clean uniforms and special thin nylon gloves for working with personal and children's things.
4. When ordering the packaging materials from the moving company, ask them to provide you with a silent tape, instead of the usual, to make packing quieter.

After the move

Get to know your neighbors and other parents at the playground. You can invite them to visit your new home or go out together to help children to make friends.

Take a walk around the new neighborhood with the whole family, visit interesting places like a park, carousel. And most importantly, throughout the entire time of the move, talk to your child about the future, imagine how great the life will be in the new place, find out his expectations, talk about the new opportunities.
